Mattea Room

Mattea Caboto was the wife of Italian navigator and explorer, Giovanni Caboto.  The couple had three children:  Ludovico, Sebastian, and Sancius.  She was born in Venice, Italy, and married John Cabot—as Newfoundlanders affectionately call him—circa 1484. You can visit Mattea’s, a craft boutique specializing in unique handmade crafts on the wharf at Bonavista Harbour.
